If you are keeping track here, Jeanne is still gone and our door at Nifong is still broken. But here’s a few other items of note:
July’s Epic Pie Tasting is scheduled for tomorrow. I think we have a great menu planned. I definitely think we’ve progressed in this arena over time. We’ve moved from WHAT OUTRAGEOUS PIES CAN WE MAKE (remember Water Pie?) to a bit more refinement…as in, what if add White Chocolate Powder or Coffee Emulsion to that? I take zero credit and rather heap the praise upon Team PJP for their creativity.
Though, have you seen that Tik Tok trend where someone pours a root beer soda into a container of Cool Whip and then whisks in a box of Jello instant vanilla pudding and pours it into a graham cracker crust? We tried it (with from-scratch whip, not Cool Whip of course) and it was just weird. Go unheart the video in your feed and you’ll thank us.
Speaking of Tik Tok, I tried to make a dessert at home from Tik Tok that required powdered sugar and I didn’t have any. (We are basically the pie version of the cobbler’s children have no shoes). I read online that you can put granulated sugar and cornstarch in a food processor and make powdered sugar. LIES.
Trust me unless you want your kitchen to be covered in a fine white powder and your dessert to crunch.
Honestly, I wonder how I bake for a living.
