On The Bright Side.

So here we are on the start of the third week of Columbia’s stay-at-home order for non-essential businesses.
And I think I speak for the Internet collectively when I say that I am mentally worn out, mainly because I have this nagging feeling like something is wrong and then I’m like “OH, YEAH, WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC.” Goodness. But on the bright side, here are some fun things to discuss:

  1. As of this post, we have 993,000 views on one of our TikTok videos. There’s been a lot of discussion about how to celebrate one million views, mainly centering around glitter and balloons…neither things easy to procure in a pandemic. We may have to settle for being self-satisfied. No surprise that we are good at that.

  2. And whether it is related to TikTok views or not, we’ve noticed a sharp increase in our Jelly Jar shipping orders. New shipping requests arrive every hour and we couldn’t be happier. We are sending boxes all over the United States this week and we are including thank you notes signed by all of Team PJP in each box.

  3. Next, a huge shoutout to our friends at Fast Yowi that continue to print t-shirts with the logos of local businesses and then give 80% of each purchase of the small business on the shirt. The program goes through April 15th, so if you’ve ever wanted a PJP shirt, now is the time. I ordered one for everyone in my family so we can all have one with the “love local como” logo on the back to remember this time in our history.

  4. We also introduced regular pie delivery today. One of our very first Team PJP employees - Travis - is the Director of Delivery, which is a win because he gets tips and he doesn’t mind zigzagging all over town. He happens to have a lot of free time because he is in his senior year at Columbia College and runs cross country. Sadly, now all of his competitive running is cancelled. Oh, and he is convinced Carole Baskin fed her ex-husband to the tigers on Tiger King, so there’s everything you need to know about Travis before he comes to delivery your purchases.

  5. While Travis laments not running long distances, I’m lamenting no regular gel manicures. I finally did my own at home yesterday and I’ll never take my very first world privilege of regular professional nail care for granted again. Also, I worry about my entrepreneur friends at the nail salon and wonder if they are doing ok, especially navigating the government relief options available to small businesses. In no particular order, I also miss regular hair coloring, clothes shopping, home decor shopping, eating out, and touching my face without stressing myself out about touching my face. True story.
