Please and Thank You

You likely aren’t surprised to read this, but we are really way down deep in the pie making this week. It’s the sort of week where we arrive way before the sun rises and leave way after it sets and there is still just more work to be done. (Honestly, I thought two stores would make the holidays easier. But as it turns out, we’ve just made two exceptionally busy stores. I’m not complaining by any means, but I am tired.)

So. I can list 40,000 things I need right now, like an extended period of sitting, or 12 hours of sleep, or a deep tissue massage. But you know what I don’t need? SNOW. Seriously. I promise you that every retailer in the path of this alleged winter storm is so full of anxiety tonight that one more Winter Storm warning on our phones might cause us to cry. (Honestly, that’s true for all the UPS, Amazon, FedEx, and USPS drivers. Plus all the pilots and bus drivers and train conductors. And all the people stuck in airports. And all the people driving somewhere in the next few days.)

So basically millions of us.

Which begs the question: when you tell people they can’t order pie for Thursday because of the weather, why are they so outraged…like we are just expecting a small blizzard directly over our storefronts? One person today told me we were being ridiculous because she lived “just down the street” and snow would be no problem for her. Sadly though, everyone on Team PJP doesn’t live just down the street and so what do we do about that?

I don’t have answers. I’m just dropping in to say that we are fine, just busy and stressed. And can we all take a collective moment to send a message to the universe to avoid the snow? Please and thank you.
