Nostalgic Fondness

Nine years ago today, our equipment was installed at PJP Buttonwood. We had two ovens, one floor mixer, one tabletop mixer, and a commercial sink. We had no idea what we were doing, but I have a nostalgic fondness for our 2014 naivety. Let’s see what else we were doing in the last week of March over the years:

  1. 2022: For the life of us, we couldn’t find our mailbox at PJP West. As it turns out, there is a bank of mailboxes behind the mattress store and that’s where we found all of our Amazon packages. You think the whole “you have a mailbox across the parking lot” might have been mentioned at lease signing, but what do I know?

  2. 2021: We were getting ready to leave for Los Angeles to film Crime Scene Kitchen, though we couldn’t tell you that just yet. At any rate, croquembouche is still dead to me.

  3. 2020: It was the peak of the pandemic panic, wherein the entire world was in a tailspin and we had no idea what was going to happen to us. What a weird time to live through in history.

  4. 2019: A hunk of facade from the overhang at PJP Buttonwood fell off and landed on the sidewalk, prompting a fence of caution tape. Those were the days.

  5. 2018: We hosted an Epic Pie Tasting and Honey Gooseberry was the winning flavor. We actually just did Honey Whiskey Gooseberry for the St. Patrick’s Day Epic Pie Tasting and I seriously had ZERO memory of doing this in 2018. It didn’t test well this time around, so I have no answers.

  6. 2017: I visited The Pioneer Woman store in Oklahoma. I used to be a super fan, but I think Walmart has overexposed her brand. Does she need a line of knives AND a line of shoes available for sale? Probably not.

  7. 2016: We went in at 2 am and posted a selfie, wherein we were both wearing lipstick despite our middle of the night baking status. We’ve got our standards. It’s been a minute since a 2 am start time and I’m not sad about that.

  8. 2015: Jason bought worldpiedomination.com, the very site you are reading this on now. And the previous owners of peggyjeanspies.com let their ownership lapse, so he snatched that up too (thus ending our days of pjpies.com - though we still own it.). I don’t know how to buy a website domain, so I’m thankful he does.

  9. 2014: We signed on the purchase of the original equipment at PJP Buttonwood and then it almost didn’t fit through the front door and there was a hot minute where Jeanne suggested we have the front windows removed so the equipment could be lifted through. In tune with Jeanne’s personality, that was a VERY dramatic response. Thankfully, it all worked out. Though we would repeat the same scenario when we moved to Nifong. I mean, why do you think West has dual front doors?
