Let's Check

At this point, I’m completely incapable of considering anything but the thousands of pies we will make in the next two weeks - next week we have 4,500 on order. To be fair, I’m basically like this every single year. Just to be sure, let’s check:

  1. 2020: We were engaged in a dumpster war with Subway. And navigating a pandemic holiday season. Good times.

  2. 2019: Well, it snowed that day. And because we were slow, I was overthinking Thanksgiving in our new space.

  3. 2018: We had just at 1,000 pies on order and our electric bill was $768, which felt so offensive. Little did I know those were the halcyon days.

  4. 2017: We were deciding if we should close our orders at 900 pies. It felt like a staggering amount to bake at PJP Buttonwood

  5. 2016: It was our first year to offer online ordering, which then I would transcribe onto paper and alphabetize it in a three-ring binder. Sometimes I confuse myself with the decisions I make.

  6. 2015: We weren’t even counting orders. We were just taking them. Bwhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahaha.

  7. 2014: We baked just over 200 pies at the Elks Lodge and it darn near killed us. Also, I put all my eggs into the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan before the butter (disregarding Jeanne’s instruction) and all the pies I made had scrambled eggs in them. To their credit, the Elks didn’t even complain about all those pies in their dumpster…
