Jeanne-ology: 10 Things

It’s Thursday and Jeanne is FINALLY back to share some thoughts - and that’s good because after today, I’m completely out of words. Enjoy! Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers!  I appreciate all your well wishes and thoughts.  Boy, have I needed it!  I didn't realize that breaking a rib (No. 7, left side) would be such a huge ordeal.  The first few days were miserable.  I couldn't move without moaning and any movement required my husband giving me a hand.  I could lament that if I weren't so clumsy, I wouldn't be in such a mess.  Two weeks have passed and I feel 65% better.  Rebecca has cooked every meal for my husband and I since the accident.  No matter how tired or mentally exhausting her day has been,  she shows up with a delicious home cooked meal.  My husband has never ate better!  If my husband and I were left to our own devices, we would be near death with no food in the house and eating potato chips and cookies to sustain us. (Rebecca editing to add: That’s a bit dramatic, though they do enjoy cookies with their coffee. It super helps that I’m already cooking dinner for my family and they live just across the road.)

I really miss the shop. Rebecca keeps me up to date on our daily activities.  She is my window into the world of pie right now.  I miss seeing our employees and I miss hearing all the chatter.  I hope to be able to go in next week for short periods.  Not to work, but seeing everyone will help my mental outlook. (Rebecca editing to add: This has been A WEEK. I’ve cried twice and I’m not sorry. No regrets.)

I have been pondering what good may have come from having such a bad accident.  Here are some of my conclusions.

1.   Having more compassion for those that are housebound.

2.   Really comprehending how much my family loves me.

3.   Realizing how competitive my husband and I are playing chess.  We play at least two games a day!

4.   Bird watching is relaxing.

5.   Perhaps not mowing and weed eating our yard ourselves wouldn’t be the worse thing.

6.   My granddaughter is top notch at merchandising and Instagramming!

7.   Rebecca is a true leader for our company.  (She doesn't think so)

8.   I am not ready to retire!  It has been difficult finding ways to keep myself busy when I am not in pain.

9.   I have too much email! Over 8000 in my inbox and 95% of them was junk.

10 .I should stop stressing over things out of my control. (That's a hard one for me!)

Those are the top ten, I am in no doubt there are many more to be discovered.  I feel blessed with a loving husband and family, good friends, great customers, good pie sales, and a loyal dog.  What more can I ask for? (Rebecca editing to add: She’s also thankful for Netflix. She forgot that one.)

Again thank you for all the well wishes and I hope to see you soon at the shop! (Rebecca editing to add: There won’t be anyone happier to have her back than me.)
