Jeanne-ology: It Works Great

Well, it’s Thursday and LOOK WHO IS BACK. Jeanne is here with her thoughts to share after a few week hiatus (primarily because she never knows when it is Thursday unless I relentlessly remind her.). Enjoy! Rebecca

Hello Thursday readers! I haven't been consistent with writing the blog. Every day becomes a little easier for me adjusting with the new change in my life.

I have been trying to do some redecorating at my house. I ordered an area rug for my living room. I had decided to take the existing rug to put into my bedroom because the color scheme worked well for the bedroom furniture. Rebecca and family stopped by recently and they helped me change out the large rugs. I brought out the vacuum cleaner before we rolled up the rug and Rebecca went into a hissy fit! How old is that Kirby vacuum? Why haven't I bought a new one? Because there is nothing wrong with this one. It works great! (Rebecca editing to add: Uh, notice she doesn’t mention the missing headlight? Or that it weighs 40 pounds? Or that she had to replace the bag and she has a stash of replacement bags quickly depleting because literally no one sells them anymore.)

Rebecca and her whole family keep up to date appliances and electronics. For her looking at a 20 year vacuum cleaner was something that old people do. Rebecca and family bought me a Roomba a couple of years ago and I love it. However, I still use my Kirby vacuum . Even Rebecca was surprised how good the Kirby suction was when she used the Kirby. Maybe I convinced her that since the Kirby has all metal parts, it was built to last. (Rebecca editing to add: Where to start. Well, she bought that Kirby when I was in middle school. Second of all, the suction was FINE for something 35 years old. Third of all, we all coughed when she wrangled the bag out of the zipper compartment.)

Speaking of floor cleaners, Rebecca bought me a Bissell floor mop and I love it! She then bought herself one and she loves it too. However, she had to replace her Bissell floor mop because it stopped working. Mine is still working with no problems and her Bissell was newer than mine. It could be due to her twice a week mopping, I just use it once a week, if lucky. However, she ordered a new one and she is enjoying clean floors now. A part of me wanted to look at the old one to make sure they did not miss a dirty filter or something that kept the machine from turning itself off. One of the main differences between Rebecca and myself is that to replace an item compared to fixing an item puts make us somewhat polarized. That's okay because it adds to the charm of our relationship. (Rebecca editing to add: The main difference between us is patience. She will work on a random project for hours and I will literally wear out with her.)

The biggest help from Rebecca and my granddaughter was them coming over and helping me paint my kitchen. We all worked about six hours and it looks beautiful! The walls were a dark green and the new color has brightened up the entire room. Since both of them are so good at painting, I am conjuring up other rooms that need to be painted! I haven't mentioned this yet, I may overwhelm them. (Rebecca editing to add: It does look lovely, but it was an undertaking. She wants to paint her bedroom next but we have hundreds of pies to bake for Easter, so she’s going to have to wait a hot second. She can vacuum if she finds any spare time over the holiday weekend.)
