Immediately No

I have no idea where the bulk of 2022 has slipped away to, but pre-orders for Thanksgiving open this Saturday, October 1st and close Saturday, November 12th. This is the first time we’ve set an order close date, usually just relying on our spidey sense to tell us when we are approaching an overwhelming number of pies on order. It only took us eight years to formalize the process, but here we are.

Here’s what else is going on:

  1. Because I only operate well in complete and total chaos, we’ve agreed to participate in the Roots & Blues festival next weekend. It wasn’t in our plan - and we haven’t been since 2019 - but the fine folks at the festival stopped by to specifically ask us to join and external validation is my love language.

  2. Tomorrow is our September Epic Pie Tasting. It was slated to be our final tasting of the year, but it sold out in under 10 minutes in both stores and then there was just mass outrage from everyone still trying to purchase tickets. We opened a second date in October to accommodate another 80 tickets. (It sold out just as quickly.)

  3. We finished decorating for Halloween this week at both stores. We never tire of opening merchandise because we bought it all in January and so it is a complete surprise with each box. In general, I’m not a Halloween person but this could sway me but the cute decor is growing on me.

  4. At PJP West, one of our double door commercial freezers that we purchased new in February has died. After several repair visits, they called the time of death and our warranty now provides for a new freezer. Which, at least it is good that we don’t pay for the new freezer, but the warranty people need to know how dire that second freezer is before the onslaught of Thanksgiving.

  5. I was at West this afternoon working in our office. Jason is usually at that store and I’m usually at Nifong store. And if you ever want to know the difference between us, please know that I’ll NEVER EVER work with the overhead lights on in the office. I’ll strain my eyesight by lamp while Jason sits in the heartbreak that is full fluorescent overhead lighting. 10 minutes in the West office and I was ready to turn off the office lights and work by phone flashlight. I don’t know how he does it, but immediately no.
