Great.

Well, sadly we are cancelling our 2/2/22 open date for PJP West End after reviewing the weather forecast for this week. And as we closely monitored the forecast over the past few days before making a final decision, I couldn’t even be righteously indignant about it all. A foot of snow means our whole town will be taking the day off, but for the most necessary personnel and essential functions - and pie qualifies as neither.

SO GREAT.

On Friday, we went to Ikea in St. Louis to purchase an obscene amount of measuring cups, mixing bowls, and teaspoons. It is surprising, but all of Team PJP agrees that Ikea measuring cups and spoons are far superior to the much pricier versions on Amazon. Except when we got there, the Ikea was COMPLETELY EMPTY of 90% of the things on our purchase list. We turned the corner to the kitchen supply section and the shelves were bare. If I wanted to buy a couch from Ikea, I would wonder about the impact of the shipping crisis and supply chain on couch availability. But whisks??? Hmpf.

So with all that laying heavy on our minds, we spent the majority of Saturday and Sunday at the new store building merchandise displays, unboxing equipment, and cleaning. And even with all those efforts, we were feeling the stress about finishing out our extensive to-do list before Wednesday. (So much so that I paired CBD gummies with my iced coffee both mornings for breakfast. That’s the charm of entrepreneurship for you.)

And now here we are. Winter is dead to me. Are we even doing the groundhog thing on Wednesday? Because I’m pretty sure Phil is going to see his shadow.

Here’s our plan: we are just bumping it a week and we will open the west store on Wednesday, February 9th. I was compelled to push it to 2/22/22 to stay on theme, but that is a long time to have a store ready to go but with no revenue.

PJP Nifong will be on regular hours tomorrow and likely closed at least Wednesday if the forecast holds true. And if all ends up being a big mistake and it snows just an inch or so, then I’ll be indignant. I guess we will wait to see what Phil says.
