Jeanne-ology: That Escalated Quickly

It’s already Thursday and really during this time of year, the days are all the same - we bake a lot and then it is the next day. Here is what Jeanne has to say about this week! Enjoy -

Hello Thursday Readers! Another week passed. The days always seem to roll into another that is hard to remember what day it is. Maybe that is a good thing because I can't stand to hear any of the national news. (Rebecca editing to add: I’m going to go over to her house and block her access to the news. She’ll never be able to reset it.)

The news today said our heating bills will increase by 54%! Wow, what news to hear after hearing about the need to order Christmas gifts early because your chance of getting any merchandise will be slim. I would order now, but I’m not good at planning. I usually wait until two weeks before the big day to shop. That's because I have a family that is hard to shop for. Rebecca and family have everything they need or want. How can I top this? This Christmass will be unusual for sure. I may resort to getting my son-in-law a slab of meat, I could give Rebecca massive rolls of paper towels. My grandson would appreciate a gas card and some gift cards to his favorite fast food places. My granddaughter a stress ball and makeup from Ultra. Heck, I could get all these things this week. Seems pretty simple to me. I should maybe add to their list of Christmas gifts because my husband may move in with them because they have a great fireplace that pumps out a lot of heat! I am sure they would let us versus finding out we froze to death in our house because we don't have a wood burning fireplace and not being able to pay for the high price of heat. Geez, after this ranting, I do need to stay away from the news! (Rebecca editing to add: Welp, that escalated quickly. Paper goods as gifts to death by frostbite at the holidays.)

We made several hundred tarts today for an order and we make even more tarts tomorrow for a larger tart order. In fact, November and December are filled with massive tart orders. I am glad they are tarts, because our jelly jar pies are more consuming. Also, we have no guarantee that we can order and receive the jars we may need. Today, Rebecca and Jason were ordering truckloads of pie boxes, pie tins to get us through the holiday season. Our food orders are also padded with extra baking essentials to keep us going. If we wait any longer, the products may not be available or have doubled in price. (Rebecca editing to add: I wasn’t wrong at all that she envisions quality craftsman shelving, lights, and a well thought out map system - think Dewey Decimal system for pie boxes in our storage container.)

To keep me balanced, I will continue to watch Gunsmoke and Mountain Men, work my crosswords puzzles and keep the news off. Without the news, I can pretend every thing is all right and I will take each day as it comes, whatever that may be. (Rebecca editing to add: Mountain Men? That’s a new one for her. A quick Google search reports this premiered on The History Channel in 2012. It’s apparently about some men who decide to live off grid in Montana and stressful antics ensue. Modern day Gunsmoke.)
