Don't Be Suspicious

It is well documented around here that January is my very least favorite month of the year, so I always welcome February with effervescence. All that said, I may have to issue a formal apology to January because it was a pretty delightful month at PJP in terms of sales and interesting ideas floating around - and those are two of my favorite things. Our second slowest month each year is July, so I’ll keep you posted if I plan to shift my disdain from mid-winter to mid-summer.

Here’s what we did last week that’s interesting enough to share:

  1. Approximately 85% of Team PJP has developed a severe Tik Tok addiction, so we spent a fair amount of time showing each other Tik Tok videos and discussing all the videos we could add to the yet-to-be-created PJP Tik Tok. Our first creation: sneaking past Jeanne to put a bowl in the sink that has pecans left in it while playing Don’t Be Suspicious. Which, I guess is really only funny if you know how much she HATES finding a leftover pecan in a mixing bowl because it is wasteful.

  2. We hosted our first Epic Pie Tasting in our new space. While I suspected Jalapeno Cheddar Apple to be the clear loser of the evening, it was actually well received (but not enough to investigate ordering jalapenos in bulk). The biggest winner was Bluebarb - a combination of blueberries and rhubarb. As a bonus, it is super fun to say. BLUEBARB. We will add it into the baking schedule soon, just so we can say it a lot.

  3. We were super busy with Super Bowl pies for pick up on Saturday. While Patrick Mahomes is the only person I can identify on the Chiefs team (or really, any professional sports team), I’m 100% here for the boost their appearance in the Super Bowl gave to the economy.

  4. We moved out our bench that sat in the front area of PJP Buttonwood for most of our existence and took it to Jeanne’s screened in porch so that we could make room for more merchandising. And as a superstitious person, Jeanne had to reassure me 1,200 times that moving furniture doesn’t ensure failure as a company. Parenting me must be difficult sometimes. Owning a business with me must be even more difficult.

  5. And finally, Emma made ADORABLE pie pops for Valentine’s Day as a sample for a local reporter writing about sweet treats for the holiday. They’ve garnered so much attention that we are offering them by pre-order for $8 and they can be done in most fruit pie options. And, we are super excited that our beloved Emily from Sugarberry Blooms will be at PJP for a pop-up as well on Friday, February 14th. Often, I see all the creativity that we get to be a part of and I’m always amazed by the talent in our PJP world. It’s the best part of entrepreneurship.
