Chad GPT

If you subscribe to our texting service, then you already know that this afternoon we offered 13% off all dessert pies and merchandise. This was in celebration of our newly crossed threshold of 13,000 Facebook followers. (And look, I realize that I’m the only person that actually cares if we have 13,000 followers, but growing an audience is an endeavor.) And every time we cross another threshold, I wonder what social media platform will eventually surpass Facebook and present a new challenge to building a following. I’m a true optimist. Ahem.

Here’s what else is going on:

  1. I normally eschew the month of July for sluggish sales, but this July has been much busier than years past. I don’t know why and I don’t care why. I’ll just happily take the better numbers and the less stress.

  2. But July does mean a lot of staff time off for their summer vacations, so this week our entire family is working every weird combination of shifts imaginable. In retrospect, Jason and I should have had like eight children so that we could fill the gaps in the schedule much more easily. We are like farmers that have to call in everyone for the harvest.

  3. This Thursday is July’s Epic Pie Tasting and just a few tickets remain for pickup at West. I completed our menu today, including one flavor I’ve wanted to try forever. Recipe creation ranks really low on my skill set and it’s rare I contribute to the tasting menu, so buy up the last few tickets just to see what I’ve come up with.

  4. Jason has been working diligently on a project that includes an enormous amount of computer coding and he has been using Chat GPT to assist him in learning to code. I have a lot of opinions about Chat GPT, but mostly I’m frustrated that the creators didn’t name him Chad since we already have an Alexa and a Siri. Missed marketing opportunity.

  5. And finally, we have less than a week left for our July Pie of the Month, Peanut Butter & Jelly. The August Pie of the Month is Blue Goose, which is essentially a combination of blueberries and gooseberries. It tested really well at a pie tasting and at a private tasting we hosted a few weeks ago. I don’t like blueberries or gooseberries alone or together, but I do very much love the poster Ellery created for the front windows for August. Every month, I think that poster is my favorite until the next month and then that poster is my favorite. But mainly I’m thankful that she does all our graphic design because my graphic design work is even more subpar than my recipe work. I 100% would need Chad’s help.
