Jeanne-ology: Adventures

It’s been a hot minute, but Jeanne is back this week to share her adventures from the last week visiting her twin sister. Enjoy! Rebecca

Hello Thursday Readers! A few weeks have passed again since I last posted. Last week I was on the road to southeastern Missouri to visit my sister. We share the same birthday and last year she came to see me to celebrate our birthday. She told me that she was NOT coming back until I visited her. It has been almost eight years since I have done so. (Rebecca editing to add: It is a five hour drive to my aunt’s house and I called Jeanne at least seven times to check her progress.)

We both grew up on a farm and went to a small school system. She has always lived in southeast Missouri and is content. Growing up as fraternal twins, we were so different than each other. I made perfect grades and her grades were poor. She skipped school a lot and I never missed a day of school. As time passed, she calmed down and I quit trying to be perfect. Now we enjoy each other's company so much and over the years have learned how much we have in common. (Rebecca editing to add: They don’t look alike, but without question, you can tell they are twins. They have the same mannerisms and patterns of speech. And especially after they spend time together, they are overwhelmingly similar.)

She wanted to drive me to visit our childhood home. It has been replaced by a mobile home. Other neighbors homes have been replaced also with newer homes. She then took me to Qulin, Missouri, where my aunt and grandparents lived. It had changed so much, I didn't recognize anything! The whole experience was quite depressing and we stopped exploring and went back to her home. I wished I had never gone on that excursion. I would rather remember the fondness of growing up than to see how the area had changed. She kept mentioning did I remember so and so, and I didn’t! How could you forget, we went to school together! She became so exasperated with me. Of course, she is much more a social animal than me. We stayed up late and talked the evenings away. I due to leave on Sunday, but was too exhausted. I came home on Tuesday and was anxious to do so, I was missing my family so much. When I got home, I began missing her! (Rebecca editing to add: We missed her very much, but enjoyed hearing about all of her adventures. We could tell they were having a lot of fun and I was a little jealous because that side of our family is super entertaining.)

Rebecca and the family were glad I came home. I think Rebecca was surprised I didn't stay longer, but glad I didn't. Rebecca and family are leaving for Las Vegas this weekend and I dread it. It's not the same knowing they are not home. It will be lonely for me. They will return on Wednesday next week, so they are not going to be gone long. I will work at the shop and keep myself busy. My son-in-law has developed a lot of new apps and she has been teaching me how to use them. I haven't learned because she and Jason take care of the behind the scenes stuff. Let's hope I don't get confused and mess up the entire baking schedule using the new data. I would hate for them to come home and we didn't open because I couldn't figure out what to bake for the shops! She would tell me to go ahead and move to my sister's house because they don't really need me! (Rebecca editing to add: She’s ridiculous. To begin with, she will do a stellar job with both stores. And secondly, we could never be the same if she wasn’t there every day. But we can figure out a way for her to visit her sister on a regular basis. But I’ll sill call her seven times in transit.)
